Why? WHY, I ask you?!?!?
Let me start this post by saying...I love my mother. We are close. She lives in another state, about 4 hours away. This is probably a good thing for our relationship as we have had our ups and downs. So my mother calls me no less than once a day. Now I really am not a phone person because for some reason I tend to not be able to get anything else done while on the phone, but I try to make an exception for my mom because I know she likes to talk to the kids. Heres where the problem lies. When my mother talks about the kids she seems to be unable to talk in an adult voice. I will now give you an example. (Said in a grandma-ish, baby talk voice) "Give my babies kisses for me. And a tooney tooney tooney....my goodness!". Ok I don't know what that means. I mean, I get that she wants me to kiss the kids but the rest is all Greek to me!
Does anyone out there understand? When your trying to make dinner and help with homework or give baths you just don't always have time to listen to a trail of baby talk. If we are saying our goodbyes, lets just say them and not follow up with "And a tooney tooney tooney."
I am so pms'ing right now and I know this. But, seriously this is how I feel when trying to get off the phone with mom.....
