Debate Over "Deceptively Delicious" by Jessica Seinfeld
There seems to be much debate going on regarding the new book by Jessica Seinfeld called "Deceptively Delicious". The concept is pretty much sneaking healthy fruits and veggies into your children's food. One example is pureed cauliflower mixed in with macaroni and cheese...you get the picture. While I haven't read this book nor do I plan to (my kids love their veggies), I can see why moms would resort to this sort of trickery in order to get their children to eat healthier. Whether the children like it or not. My opinion is this...If my children were not healthy eaters, I would definitely buy this book and give it a try. Why not? As mothers we want the absolute best for our kids, especially when it comes to their health. One of the arguments made by the opposition is that this is lying to our children and promoting poor eating habits (by sneaking veggies into their brownies and then offering said brownies to your children). While yes, part of that is true, I have to say, I firmly believe there are just some things your children don't need to know at such a young age. If it takes a little white lie or a little side stepping of the issue to get your kids to eat healthy, nutritious food...I say go for it. What do you all think?
